Hosting Roo Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
Effective Date: 18 May 2025
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of Hosting Roo’s services and is incorporated by reference into our Terms and Conditions. By using our services, you agree to comply with this AUP. Hosting Roo reserves the right to modify this AUP at any time without prior notice.
1. Prohibited Uses
You may not use Hosting Roo’s services to engage in, foster, or promote illegal, abusive, or irresponsible behavior, including:
Illegal Activities: Engaging in activities that are illegal under applicable laws, including but not limited to:
Disclosing sensitive personal information about others without consent.
Storing or transmitting “Protected Health Information” as defined under the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Phishing or engaging in identity theft.
Distributing malware, viruses, worms, Trojan horses, or other malicious code.
Promoting or facilitating prostitution or sex trafficking.
Hosting Ponzi or pyramid schemes, or websites that engage in deceptive marketing practices.
Hosting, distributing, or linking to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or content harmful to minors. Such content will be suspended immediately without notice and reported to law enforcement.
Distributing pornography or adult-related content, or offering escort services.
Engaging in the unlawful distribution of controlled substances, drug contraband, or prescription medications without a valid prescription.
Gambling activities.
Promoting or facilitating violence or terrorist activities.
Infringing upon the intellectual property or other proprietary rights of others.
2. Excessive Use of Resources or Network Abuse
You may not consume excessive amounts of server or network resources or use the services in a manner that disrupts the normal operation of Hosting Roo’s systems or services. Prohibited activities include:
Hosting or linking to anonymous proxy servers.
Operating file-sharing sites.
Hosting plugins, scripts, or processes that adversely impact our systems.
Utilizing software that interfaces with Internet Relay Chat (IRC) networks.
3. Unauthorized System Access
You may not use Hosting Roo’s services to gain unauthorized access to any network or system, including:
Accessing another network without permission, including probing or scanning for vulnerabilities or breaching security measures.
Attacking other networks, such as launching Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.
Intercepting or monitoring data without authorization.
Using automated tools like bots, crawlers, or scrapers to access or monitor any part of Hosting Roo’s systems without permission.
4. Storage of Backups
We perform routine backups of shared services, but you remain solely responsible for backing up your data. We are not liable for data loss or corruption.
Backups are included as part of your hosting plan’s storage allocation. Excessive retention of backups—particularly from cPanel, WHM, or WHMCS—can lead to your allocated storage being used up, potentially impacting service performance. For guidance on best practices and recommended backup intervals, please contact support@hostingroo.com.
Backups of external sources (i.e., data not hosted on Hosting Roo infrastructure) are not permitted. Hosting Roo services are not to be used as general-purpose remote storage or backup repositories.
5. Zero Tolerance Spam Policy
Hosting Roo maintains a zero-tolerance policy for spam. You may not use our services to send unsolicited bulk or commercial emails, or to send, assist, or commission the transmission of commercial emails that do not comply with applicable laws, including the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. Prohibited activities include:
Sending spam or bulk unsolicited messages.
Forging or misrepresenting message headers.
Hosting websites advertised via spam (“spamvertised”).
Selling contact lists or sending emails to purchased lists (“safe lists”).
Accounts found to be in violation may be suspended or terminated without notice.
6. Enforcement
Violations of this AUP may result in the suspension or termination of your services. Hosting Roo reserves the right to disable or remove any content that violates this AUP to prevent harm to others or to Hosting Roo’s services. We may report violations to law enforcement authorities as deemed appropriate.
Failure to respond to a communication from our abuse department within the specified time frame may result in the suspension or termination of your services.
7. Reporting Violations
If you believe that someone has violated this AUP, please report the incident to our abuse team at abuse@hostingroo.com. Include all relevant information, including headers and logs, to assist in our investigation.
